in compliance with Your Excellency's instructions incorporated in one statement the whole disbursements and receipts for the quarter, but I have separated the disbursements and receipts of Mr Stewart and Mr Coffin from those made by me, and put in such vouchers as have been rendered me by those Gentlemen in support of their accounts. As regards Commissary General Liffin I have been obliged to give him receipt for the sums of £132.14.7 disbursed for the Colonial department, and for £50.6.9 disbursed for the Superintendent of Works' department; and for which I obtained Warrants from Your Excellency. As regards Mr. Stewart's portion of the June account, that Gentleman will be responsible direct to the Audit Board in London: (see letter of Auditor Gen.). I have had nothing whatever to do with his payments or receipts.
In conclusion I beg to submit to Your Excellency the propriety of diminishing to the lowest scale the Colonial Quarterly advances on Imprest, which in the June account amounts to £1708.11.17½, and which in the September account have increased to £6157.1.3.
I have, &c.,
